"Mr. Brightside" isn't just The Killers' biggest hit, it's now the recipient of two Guinness World Records. GWR revealed the achievement on Instagram, writing: "With a total of 416 weeks, 'Mr Brightside' has achieved the longest stay on UK singles chart by a group and the most cumulative weeks on UK singles chart (one song). Thatâs nearly eight years!"
In an interview with Guinness World Records, Brandon Flowers spoke about how the band never gets tired of playing the Hot Fuss hit. âItâs infectious still to us, I know some people canât wrap their head around it but youâll see the response [when you see it live]," he said. âItâs tough not to be touched by it or be excited by it and thereâs going to be people tonight whoâve never seen it live, thereâll be some people whoâve seen it 45 times. And we just donât get tired of it.â
âWe start it and then we enjoy the ride and then one of us has to stop it, itâs one of those kind of songs." drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. added. âItâs a highly reciprocal thing that happens and we enjoy the ride just as much as they do.â
"Mr. Brightside" is a staple in The Killers' setlist and will be a highlight when they begin their Las Vegas residency to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hot Fuss next month.
