UPDATE: One woman was rescued from the 4th floor of the building around 8pm Monday night. The city of Davenport swept the building earlier in the day and thought everyone who was alive had been accounted for. Now, there's questions as to whether or not they should go through with the demolition this soon, as there may still be people in the building. iHeartMedia's Mark Manuel shot video of the rescue.
(From our news partner WQAD News 8) The Davenport, an apartment complex and 324 Main Street in Davenport, partially collapsed this afternoon. First responders responded to the first reports of the collapse at 4:55 p.m. At least six stories caved in on the side of the building facing the parking lot, with some apartment rooms completely destroyed.
It's not clear what caused the collapse, and if there are any injuries or fatalities. The public is asked to avoid the downtown area. There is a reunification point set up at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on 4th and Main Streets in Davenport.
