Man Uses Gender-Swap Filter To Lip Sync Evanescence's "Bring Me To Life"

Snapchat users have been having a barrel of laughs recently using the platform's gender swap filter.

One user was recently inspired to put the filter to use for a makeshift music video clip in which he lip-sync's both the vocal parts in the chorus of Evanescence's 2003 hit, "Bring Me To Life."

Twitter user Latifa uploaded the video of the Snapchatter lip-synching both Amy Lee and Paul McCoy's parts. The video's triumph is in its simplicity and lack of editing.

The man simply turns his head towards the phone to engage the gender swap filter to mime Lee's parts and then away from the phone to mime McCoy's part.

The clip has been viewed 1.25 million times since being uploaded on May 16.

For what it's worth, Evanescence's only continuing founding member Lee has never been a fan of McCoy's "rap" in the song, though she does believe it's the reason the song became a hit and helped break Evanescence into the mainstream.

"The rap wasn't part of our original idea or sound; it was a compromise in many ways," she said, regarding the reimagined version of the song on the band's 2017 Synthesis album. "So to be able to go back to the original vision for the song was great."

The band plans to write a new album this year and release it in 2020.
